Gyptian's development:

Started by him becoming recognised by Mr. Wong and Earl Chinna Smith, Gyptian honed his sound, winning the 2004 Star Search talent competition at Kens Wild Flower Lounge in Portmore, earning him a spot at Sting 2004, dubbed the 'greatest one night reggae show on earth'. Gyptian then earned his nickname from his habit of tying a shirt around his head and twisting his chin hair like an Egyptian pharaoh. Soon after this In 2005 he scored two hits, "Is There A Place" on the Seasons Riddim and "Serious Times". The Gyptian worked hard and was then nominated for Best New Entertainer at the 2006 International Reggae and World Music Awards, the twenty-three year old singer has been dominating the Jamaician charts with hits including "Is There a Place", "Beautiful Lady", and the chart-topping ballad, "Mama, Don't Cry". Then on 12 September 2006, Gyptian released his first album on VP Records. On 12 December 2007, Gyptian, while in New York, shot the music video for his new single, "I Can Feel Your Pain" which was produced by Jon FX. The song was the first to be confirmed to appear on his album "I Can Feel Your Pain" which was then released in 2008. As of the end of May 2010, his single "Hold Yuh" had peaked at number 91 on the Billboard Hot 100, number 33 on the R&B/Hip-Hop Chart, number 6 on the Heatseekers Songs Chart and had been at the top of the Reggae Digital Songs chart for nine consecutive weeks. Gyptian has been enjoying chart success with his new album, Hold Yuh, which continues to hold the 2nd spot on Billboard’s Reggae Albums Chart. The title track, “Hold Yuh,” has become a multi-chart hit worldwide and deemed a “2010 Summer Anthem.” According to Billboard Magazine “not since Wayne Wonder's "No Letting Go," has an underground reggae artist garnered as much attention in the United States as Jamaica's own Gyptian.” So therefore because of his success Gyptian has started to create a much larger fan base for himself and this is one of the reasons why the artisit we are using Shani was signed up by Gyptian she was only known through youtube and thanks to this huge hit by gyptian Shani's version is doing very well. Finally to top Gyptian's development he has half the online popularity of Sean Paul and Shaggy who are still the most popular deejays.

Summary of how the reasearch will help plan your music video.

The research which i have discovered will help me plan my own music video because i can use the analysis from the videos which i analysed by Gyptian and take them on board for my own music video my trying to help convey the subculutres love, lust etc. So therefore because we have chosen the female version of this orignal song 'Hold yuh' we need to make sure that our music video is similiar to Gyptian's which was based mostly on him and alot of closeups and shots of his face whilst he is singing whcih help convey the narrative of the song and show the pyrics clearly to our target audience because our artist will be singing to her boyfriend who is Gyptian because she has written this song back to him. Overall the ideas which me and my group have for our own music video will work perfectly for the narrative of the song.
